Exfoliating the skin is essential for it to look healthy, beautiful, and well-cared for. For this reason, it is necessary to eliminate dead cells; thus, you’ll obtain an oxygenated and moisturized dermis.

You will also reactivate the blood microcirculation, avoiding the accumulation of liquids and swelling; it will also reduce sebum production.

It’s recommended to exfoliate the face once a week. But first, consider your skin type:

  • Extra dry skin: once a week with mild scrubs
  • Oily skin: twice a week
  • Dry skin: every other week with a hypoallergenic scrub

We are committed to homemade exfoliants because we will always know that they’re 100% natural and much cheaper. So everything is advantageous and, most importantly, with ingredients accessible to everyone.

We all love coffee

Coffee has antioxidant and exfoliating properties, helping to remove skin impurities and reducing oiliness.

To make the skin softer and more hydrated after exfoliation, it is recommended that coffee be used in conjunction with another ingredient that promotes skin hydration and stimulates skin regeneration.

Some options that can be used as homemade exfoliants for the body and face are:

Option 1

  • plain yogurt
  • 4 heaping tablespoons of coffee powder or coffee grounds

Option 2

  • 4 tablespoons of whole milk
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of coffee powder or coffee grounds

Option 3

  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of coffee powder or coffee grounds

Option 4

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of coffee powder or coffee grounds

How to prepare:

Mix the ingredients well until a homogeneous paste is obtained. Apply on the area to be exfoliated, rub in circular movements and a bottom-up direction, especially on the driest areas or those with stretch marks.

Banana facial

For smooth and luminous skin:

  • 1 banana
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar

You must mix everything until achieving a paste; if too much banana is used, add sugar little by little until you get the right consistency.

The first thing you’ll do is clean the face well with warm water so that the pores open.

Then, apply the scrub with your hands or brush and let it work for two minutes. Then, clarify well with circular movements. After that, apply your usual moisturizer.

We recommend doing this exfoliation only twice a week, but as we already mentioned, it depends a lot on your skin type.

DIY body scrubs: Oatmeal and yogurt for the body

Very important that before starting the exfoliation your body is completely clean.

Carrot for collagen boost

  • A carrot
  • Your usual face cream

Carrots’ nutrients encourage collagen production, and it is recommended especially for mature skin; at the same time, it reduces spots and marks on the face.

To prepare the mask, you will liquefy a carrot, then mix it with your favorite moisturizer. For the proportions, consider the amount necessary so you can spread a generous amount on your face.

Let it work for about fifteen minutes and then rinse abundantly with warm water.

DIY body scrubs: For elbows and knees

We don’t usually pay much attention to the elbows and knees, yet it’s necessary to pamper them like any other part of our body.

Mix honey and water. When homogenized, add the flaxseed and mix until a consistent paste is obtained. Then place it in the fridge for a minimum of three hours.

After this time, apply it to the elbows and knees, rubbing and in circular movements. Let it work for three minutes. Once the time has elapsed, rinse with warm water.
